Lent Offerings 2025
Lent is a sacred season of reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth. At Christ Church NYC, we invite you to journey with us through a variety of programs designed to deepen your faith and prepare your heart for Easter. Whether through worship, study, service, or prayer, there are many ways to engage in this season of transformation. Explore our Lenten offerings below and find the opportunities that speak to your soul.
Showing Salvation: Lenten Devotional 2025
Each year in preparation for the Lenten Season, members and friends of Christ Church prepare a devotional guide for everyone in our church. This year’s theme is Showing Salvation. n each of these 37 entries, someone from our CCNYC community (both congregants and staff members, the latter of whom are introduced with their title) has written about someone who they consider a saint. This collection thus is an open-ended canon of people and things—friends, family members, mentors, public figures, and more—who offer guidance for thinking about what it means to experience salvation.
Thursdays in Lent
Join us for this important and meaningful Christ Church Lenten tradition, designed to offer both an experience of community and a meditative time of worship. Each Thursday in Lent begins with a light soup supper on the third floor at 6:00 PM, followed by a brief time of worship in the chapel at 6:45 PM.
Lenten Faith Forum: The Song Forever New
Join us for this six-week interactive Faith Forum in which the focal point will be the evocative and theological hymns of Charles Wesley. Facilitated by Katie Pagenkopf and Eric Park, this forum will be a unique opportunity to allow our Wesleyan songs of faith to lead us into deeper prayer and spiritual attentiveness. Our companion resource will be the book, The Song Forever New: Lent and Easter with Charles Wesley by Paul Wesley Chilcote. The Lenten Faith Forum meets for 6 consecutive Sundays (March 9-April 13) at 10AM on the fourth floor. (Attend in-person or virtually). For more information, please contact Katie Pagenkopf at katiepagenkopf@gmail.com.
A Timely Lenten Virtual Study: Overcoming the Fear of the Other—Wednesday evenings in Lent at 7:00 PM (March 12, 19, 26, April 2, 16).
This study/dialogue will deepen our moral understanding of “the other” in light of Christ’s ministry, during a time in which so many in our culture—including immigrants—are being “othered” in harmful ways. Our companion resources for this study will be the books, “Fear of the Other,” by Bishop William Willimon and “Beyond Welcome” by Karen González . Rev. Paul Fleck (the Executive Director of Immigration Law and Justice, New York) will serve as our primary facilitator. Rev. Mickey Correa, Karina Feliz, and Rev. Dr. Eric Park will be co-facilitators. All are welcome!
