Christ Church NYC is excited to offer a Confirmation Class starting in December for youth ages twelve through sixteen. This program will invite young folk into regular meetings from December through May in which they will learn about the fundamentals of Christian faith, the history and values of the United Methodist Church, and what it means to be a member of Christ Church. Through Confirmation Class, participants will get to know better each other, themselves, and their faith through community-building games, service projects, and opportunities to learn and discuss along with other leaders and adults in the church community.
What is Confirmation? Confirmation is the ritual in which someone who has been baptized professes their belief in Jesus Christ and “confirms” their intention to live a life molded around the love and grace of God. For teenagers who were baptized as a baby, confirmation creates a sacred space for them to affirm their faith as their own and to begin articulating what their faith and church means to them.
This year’s Confirmation Class will be led by Rev. Tyler Heston along with other CCNYC staff and leaders. Each participant will be paired with a “sponsor” member of the church who will journey through Confirmation Class with them as a mentor and friend. More information about schedule and official registration will be available by November 1.
